PDR to present as part of Research and Innovation week 2024

Starting today, Cardiff Metropolitan University is running its inaugural Research and Innovation week, dedicated to fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and transformative change.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Rachael Langford launched the week’s proceedings, which are aimed at all those interested or working within the sector, both within and outside of Cardiff Met.

Included in the array of events are ‘Lightning Talks’ from our own Professor Jarred Evans and Dr Sally Cloke. Lightning Talks are described as “TED-style lightning talks from academics who have found innovative, interesting or even odd ways to tackle or find new ways to look at problems in their research or enterprise activities."

Jarred’s talk, titled ‘You Don’t Need to Draw to Be a Designer’, will aim to provide an overview of valuable skills within the design sphere. Sally’s talk will focus on how design can help us frame problems and will use her work within Sleep Justice as a key reference point. Looking ahead to the session, Sally said “I'm looking forward to giving a 'lightning talk' on my research into the intersection of sleep, design and social justice. I've always been passionate about telling stories about research to audiences beyond academia.”
