We're going to Design for Planet Festival

Next week our Director Jarred Evans and Director of Research Andy Walters will be heading to Manchester for the Design Council’s Design for Planet Festival. The event is in its 4th year, with this year proving especially significant as a key milestone on the path towards the World Design Congress in London 2025, which carries Design for Planet as a key theme.

About the Design for Planet Festival:

According to its website: “The Design Council's mission is to Design for Planet, to design our way to a net zero world and beyond. The Design for Planet Festival is our flagship annual event helping to drive this mission. It aims to bring together designers, businesses, and policy makers to connect, inspire and help make this year's theme of Planet Positive Business a reality. By attending the festival, we aim to increase your understanding and capabilities in how to practically design for planet. In person and virtual for free.”

Working on the Green Design Skills Gap Report

As well as a packed line up of live speakers, debates and discussions, the festival also sees the release of case study statements from our current Design Economy research project focused on the environmental and social value of design. Some of the results are already published in the Design Council report the Green Design Skills Gap, a study on insights into the scale and skills of environmental design in the UK. The report draws on the results of a survey on the environmental and social value of design in the UK, which was conducted as a collaborative project between our design research team here at PDR and the Design Council. The report is available to view here.
