Race Council Cymru opens Codi Cymru exhibition

On Thursday 21st March at St Fagan’s National Museum of History, the outgoing first minister of Wales officially opened Race Council Cymru’s new exhibition ‘Codi Cymru’ or Rise Wales; an exhibition that PDR have been honoured to create, showcasing the stories of Black Lives Matter Activists from across Wales. Mark Drakeford joined other powerful speakers, including those represented in the exhibition, in raising awareness of racial injustice and promoting a movement towards an anti-racist Wales.

For this exhibition, Race Council Cymru have collected the stories of 27 Black Lives Matter activists who have led and organised protests across the country following the death of George Floyd in 2020. Together with RCC we have created an exhibition that tells these stories, with banners for each activist that highlight their personal experiences, their involvement in Black Lives Matter Wales and the work that still needs to be done to promote positive change and create sanctuary in Wales for all.

The exhibition at St Fagan’s marks the first in a series, celebrating and spreading messages from the activists involved. The exhibition will be travelling to Bangor University and Aberystwyth, as well as going out to schools and youth groups. To be inspired by the stories shared, you can catch them on display in the St Fagan’s atrium until April the 11th.
